Description
A very easy-to-grow North American native perennial, Aster umbellatus, commonly known as the Parasol White Top or White Flat-Top Aster, is an upright grower featuring abundant clusters of starry white daisies with yellow centers from mid summer through early fall. The branched flower clusters are perched atop tall stems up to 5 feet high clothed in narrowly oval green leaves that contrast nicely with the reddish stems. The flowers are a favorite of butterflies and other beneficial pollinators who will thank you for planting this one. This aster prefers life on the sunny and moist side thriving in those areas in the landscape or garden where the soil tends to stay moist to boggy. Excellent in naturalized areas, rain gardens, pollinators gardens and native gardens, and you might be happy to know that deer and rabbits tend to turn their nose up to it.

Growing 3 to 6 feet tall and 2 to 4 feet wide, the Parasol White Top Aster is ideal for use is sunny to partially shaded woodland borders and natural areas where the soil tends to stay moist.
